United Nations Day 2018

The United Nations officially came into existence on 24 October 1945, when the Charter had been ratified by China, France, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, the United States and by a majority of other signatories. United Nations Day is celebrated on 24 October each year.
On October 24, 2018, four youth groups saw the need to create awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations; namely LYFT Africa, YARD-Liberia, Kids Development Initiative I-YOCA including participants of the YALI RLC Online Cohort 9 participants.


The day brought together over 123 participants including heads of organizations, principals of schools, students and other actors. Eleven (11) schools were invited to celebrate the United Nations Day. They include the Lott Carey Baptist Mission School, Jimmie K. Dugbe A.G.M. High School, Triumph Church Mission School, Diana E. Davies High School, Phila Institute, Mother Tegeste Steward High School, All Saints International, Annie Banks Williams High School, Idea’s Vocational and Training Institute, John Christian Int’l School System and the Teebey Memorial Academy.
